The only description of this well-marked species is that given by Von Pelzeln; and we feel bound, therefore, to adopt his name for it, in preference to either of Bonaparte's, which have no sufficient diagnosis attached to them. We have compared Mr. Wallace's specimen with Buteo kaupi of the British Museum (of which there are two specimens in the collection) and find them identical. 245. SPIZAETUS T Y R A N N U S (Max.).
