Show 16 17 17 WARD REUNIONS Another annual affair was the ward reunion honoring Invited but the old people of the ward. Everyone was invited was expected to bring plenty to eat in their baskets. Large tables were set in the assembly room and the served . older folks ate first, then the children were served. A lolk program of local talent was given and then the men folk ll and the ladies "chores" hastened home to do the evening "chores visited and enjoyed themselves until supper time, when lell. again all ate what was left. The floor was then cleared lor dancing and all the dances of the time were danced for scholliche, by everyone. Varsouvienne, three-step, schottiche, waltz;i Waltz Quadrille, and plain Quadrilles were Rye waltz enJoyed. Sometimes a prize waltz which would be won Atwood . indeed I by Frank and Ruby Atwood. THE SOUTH SCHOOL HOUSE This is a very old picture of 01 the South School · and the children 01 01 the very first settlers of 01 the Dry Creek Area that later became the town of Crescent. All e S grades were taught there. there . STORES Crescent was not without grovery stores. At first Ihe settlers did their shopping at Draper at the D.O. the Rideout General Store. Here they could trade their eggs, buller, butter, potatoes, grain etc. lor groceries and hardware. But when Otto 0110 E. Vombaur moved here In 1696 1898 he built a store dose to Slale State Streel Street where he supplied the town with groceries, dry goods, notions and hardware hardware.. Then Jesse P. Dalley who had married Lavina Taylor moved inlo Into the little home vvhere where Soren Jensen had lived and in one room sel set up a little Illtle dry goods store about 1904, but In 1906 he moved to Bountiful. About 1926 1926 Harold Faulkner opened a General Store at the same cite which he ran for a number of years. A small store and Service Slation Station,, with living quarters, quarters7 was built at 10990 South State, about 1926.
