Hanks Church of Jesus Christ of laUer-day Saints 47 East South remple Salt Lake City , Utah Dear Elder Hank s: I have been informed by M iss Jean Dunn at the Beeh1ve Hou se that I should correspond with you regarding information on the Beehive Hous e . Several years ago, the Lton House was named as a national h1storlc build ing and 1s listed in the National Register . If a plaque has not already been d elivered for pla c ement on the bulld1ng, the buUding is entitled to suc h a plaque which would carry the designation of a national historic buildIng . Somehow , in the process , the BeehIve House was overlooked despite the fa ct that it is on of the best restorations in the country . I have discu sed thls matter with the preservaUon officers of the National Park Serv·ce who agree with me that the Beehive House should be included in the National Register as a bulldlng having national historic significance . But in order to accomplish this , we have to fUl out the necessary forms and provide the National Park Service with detailed information . We have already brought them up to date on the exterior res toration and interior renovation of the Lion House .. - thanks to the cooperation of the L. D . S . C hurch Information Services . But now we need information of a little different kind for t he Beehive House; spec1fically, we need some sort of an area map which will give speclflc locations of the property involved . It 1. the kind of informatlon you obtain from a plat map in an abstract . But , since the Beehive House bas always been held by the same owner , I suspect there is no such abstract . We , also , need a oood photograph with at least a 5 x 7 negatlve to accompany it. We , a110, need to know something on the cost of the restoraUon of the Beehive Hous.. Th1s need not be a detailed account, but one in rather round figure I • And then we need to list the officia l title of the owner of the property which I assume 1s the C orporation of the Church of Jesus Chr ist of Latter-day Salnts. |
