Show original. The tempting aroma of home-c:ooked food greets all who enter the Welcome Room of the Lion House Pantry cafeteria located on the ground floor. Originally, this level consisted of a long dining room, buttery, kitchen, laundry, school room, and vegetable-fruit and milk cellan. A unique facility is the Children's Party Room where mothers may bring their children for special occ:aaions. Here they are entertained by pioneer objects and stories. The elegance and beauty of the Victorian period may be seen on the third floor in the large Banquet Parlor, Gable and Buffet rooms that bring back the atmosphere of the put u they accommodate large groups of people for parties, reunions, and receptions. Today from the Garden Room on the northeast corner of the main floor, one' may step into the quiet and peace of the garden where the old water pump stands over the original well. Strains of pioneer music come from the balcony overlooking the garden. The Lion Houae is at preaent supervised by the Young Women's Mutual Improvement Association, an auxiliary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This auociation w.. founded in the Lion Houae by President Brigham Young. After evening prayer in the front parlor on November 28, 1869, he asked his daughters to remain in the room and |
