Show 6, In July of 1959, the Presiding Blshopric--Joseph L. Wirthlin, 'lborpe B. Isaacson, and. Carl W. Buckner-with the authorization of President David O. McKay and his counselors, decided to restore the Beehivi~t.i.lSe as it was between 18,54 and. 1877, when Brigham Young lived there. On August 8, 1959, the restoration of the Beehive House was annoUllOed to the publiC, and a coDittee was appointed to undertake the project. coml1.ttee me.bers were. The Don Carlos Young. George Cannon. Young, Helen Spencer Wi111 DR. and Gwen Young Wilcox. Gwen Young WUcox had spent all her life researching and studying antiques. She had a large collection herself. In two years she wasa'bl. to find and purchase forty-two antique furnishings that had. belonged to Brlgha:a Young. papers.
