Show Description of the HABS/HAER Olecklist The HABSjHAER checklist is sorted al~tically by state, county a:x:le, city or tam I'lCIIIe arrl record naITe. 'Ihe state is in::licated by the first two characters of the HABS or HAER number. 'Ihese characters are the st:ardard abbreviations for states, canm:::>nwealths arrl territories. The counties are sorted by the three digit FIPS cnmty a:x:le, hONeVer, it is the county naITe that a~ in the checklist. Generally the cnmties are listed alFhabetically, rut there are states that have nunicipalities outside of counties. These states include Marylarrl, Missoori, Nevada arrl Virginia. look to the en:::i of the state's listin3' for the above states to firrl larger cities, e. g. i carson City is at the en::1 of the Nevada listin3'. There is a page break at the errl of each state listi.n:1. The structure naITe is listed as "RE:OiAME" for record naITe. Also on this line is the Library of CO~ shelf ccx::1e, 'Which is assigned by the Library after the dOCLnnentation has been transmitted fran the HABSjHAER office. The Secondary Name fields appear on the next two lines (SNAMEDNE, SNAME:IWO, SNAMElliREE, SNAMEF<XJR). These fields contain any secondary nane5, carnrrents or other amplifyi.n:1 infonnation. The type, am:JUI1t arrl location of the dOCLnnentation is fCll..lIrl on the right side of the checklist. There are two possible locations for the dOCLnnentationi the HABSjHAER office (HH) or the Prints arrl Ibotogra};:hs Division of the Library of CO~ (LC). An "X" is place1 in the column belaY "HH" or "LC" to in::licate the location of the dOCLnnentation. It is possible for dOCLnnentation to be foun:l in both locations as supplemental dOCLnnents are acquired by the HABS/HAER office. The numbers in the coltnnnS labelled "~", "FHOr" arrl "J:WrA" in::licate the numbers of drawings, photos arrl data pages respectively. |
