Show December 6, 1968 Elder Marton D. Hanks Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 47 East South Temple Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Elder Hanks: . I have been informed bY' Miss Jean Dunn at the BeehIve House that I should correspond with you regarding information on the Beehive House. Several years ago, the Lion House was named as a national historic building and 1s listed in the National Register. If a plaque has not already been delivered for placement on the building, the buildIng 1s entitled to such a plaque which would carry the daslgnatLon of a national historic butldlng. Somehow, in the process, the Baehlve House was overlooked despite the fact that it 1s one of the best restorations in the country. I have discussed this matter with the preservation officers of the National Park Service who agree with me that the Beehive House should be included in the National ileglster as a bullding having national historic significance. But in order to accomplish this, we have to fill out the necessary forms and provide the National Park Service with detailed information. Vie have already brought thom up to date on the exterior restoration and interior renovation of the Lion House--thanks to the cooperation of the L.D.S. Church Information Services. But nO'N we need information of a Uttle different kind for the Beehive House; spec1flc~lly, we need some sort of an area map which wHl give specific locations of the property involved. It is the kind of information you obtain from a plat map in an abstract. But, since the Beehive Houss has always been held by the same owner, I suspect there is no such abstract. Vie I also, need a good photograph with at least a 5 x 7 negative to accompa ny it. We, also, need to know something on the cost of the restoration of the Beehl va House. fhls need not be a deta 11ed account, but one in rather round figures. And then we need to Hst the offlct(.il title of the owner of the property which 1 assume 1s the Corporation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. |
