Show Luncheon in Room 304 Union Building preceded the meeting, at which time the following matter was acted upon. PROPOSED REORGANIZATION OF CAMPUS STUDENT RELATION AREA; DEAN PIERSON TO HEAD UP NEW AREA. The President reported that Dean George Head Pierson, Dean of-Students and Professor and of the Department of Educational Psychology, had advised him that he had received an offer from Washington University, St. Louis, and that it would be necessary for him to advise them today as to whether he would accept or reject the offer. The President was reluctant to see Dean Pierson leave the University, stating that for a long time he had felt that a reorganization of the campus student relation area should be effected, which would in- clude the Departments of Dean Students, Bureau of Student Counsel, Student Health Service, Deans on of Men and Women, and others, and that Dean Piers was the most ably qualified member of the staff to head up this new area. The President reported that from all indications this reorganization would likely be one of the recommendations of Booz, Allen and Hamilton, now making a survey of the University of Utah. The proposal was discussed at some length, after which Regent Evans moved that the President be given a vote of confidence by the Board in encouraging Dean Pierson to remain at the University to head up this new area. Motion was seconded by Regent Culp and carried. The meeting convened at 1:00 P. M. in the Board Room, Vice-chairman Holbrook presiding in the absence of Chairman O'Connor, and in calling the meeting to order he reported the absences of-several Regents as indicated above.
