Show 267 267 On motion of Regent Bowen seconded by Regent Cox, the following Summer Festival con- SUMMER FESTIVAL tracts were approved: CONTRACTS APPROVED A. Contract with (George) Jon Geyans to perform in KISS ME KATE and SAMSON AND DELILAH, for $1, 000. B. Contract with Lloyd Thomas Leetch to perform in SAMSON AND DELILAH, for $900 plus one first class round trip New York, Salt Lake City. C. Contract with Tams -Witmark Music Library, Inc. , releasing the rights to reproduce the dramatic musical work, KISS ME KATE, at a royalty fee of $1, 750 and a rental Charge for material of $100, GIFTS Gifts as listed in Appendix Two in addition ACCEPTED to the following were accepted with appreciation on motion of Regent Eccles seconded by Regent Cosgriff. Gift to the Geology Department of a subscription to the Utah Oil Report, a weekly confidential and impartial oil news service of Utah, and a volume of past issues for the department by the Utah Oil Company. Gift of $5, 000 from Harold F. and Madelyn Silver for the establishment of the Ann M. Cannon Memorial Scholarship. Plans for incorporating the Utah Museum of Fine Arts (see minutes April 14) were reported by the President. When Mr. Boyd Hatch was here last month for the opening of the Hatch Gallery in the Park Building, he had suggested that the administration explore the possibility of incorporating the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. It was proposed that several hundred memberships be solicited at $4.00 to $5.00 each per year, and that a subscription be entered for the Metropolitan Museum of Art bulletin. This would tend to promote an interest in art and give the Institution funds with which to bring in art collections and would implement at no cost the facility the University has created on this campus. Incidentally, the President called attention to the major contributions to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts of the Hatch and McQuarrie INCORPORATION OF UTAH MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS TO BE EXPLORED |
