Show Denver at which the Western Council on Higher Education was organized. (see minutes of December 12, 1949 for full ex- planation of the program) (Also see minutes of March 12, 1951) Five states have given the cooperative plan initial approval. The University of Utah College of Medicine now admits fifty-five freshmen students each year of which approximately 10% come from states in the inter-mountain area other than Utah. It is the considered opinion of the Executive Committee of the College of Medicine that those western states from which Utah ac- cepts Medical students should properly pay the pro-rated cost of the education of their students. The Committee is reluctant to penalize students by enacting this requirement before announcing its intentions. It has therefore been recommended that an announcement be made to the class which is admitted in September of 1952 from states which hold membership in the Council, that as of September 1953 this program will become effective. Following a discussion, Regent Bamberger moved adoption of this recommendation which was seconded by Regent Cox and carried.
