It was a great pleasure meeting the party that you were so good as to have invited to meet us at luncheon, and we were very happy to have had opportunity of even a bird"s=eye view as you gave us of your campus and surroundings of the University We were all glad to have seen the Brigham Young Monument, So thank you again very much for having taken such good care of us. With the excellent attention of Doctor Samuels, we owed a great deal to the Univer=‘ sity of Utah" With all good wishes, and kind regards to Mrs. Olping Sincerely yours, /s/ COMME NDATORY LETTER FROM DR, ARTHUR Sn ADAMS CON= CERNING CONe FERENCE ON HIGHER EDUCATION Halifax The President reported receipt of a letter from Dr. Arthur S, Adams, President of the American Council on Higher Education, who was a guest speaker at the 8th Annual Utah Conference on Higher Education, held at the Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City, September 4 and 5, 1951:. Dr, Adams acknowledged with appreciation the friendly hospi= tality of Dru and Mrs, Olpin during his visit to Utah and ex- pressed the opinion that the Conference was a stimulating one to which he was happy to contribute" Since the last Board meeting the President reported he had visited five university campuses which afforded him an opportunity to inspect union buildings and dormitories and to talk over problems with staff members in these colleges. With only one exception, every institution visited had just completed or was finishing a union building, The President observed that most of the features which Mr. Fred Mr Markham, architect, has included in the design for the new union |
