Show It was reported that the College of Pharmacy has been given full accreditation and "A" rating. A tribute was paid to Dr. L. David Hiner, Dean of the College, and his staff for the outstanding work they have accomplished in the past five years. Dean Hiner has expressed appreciation to the Regents for their interest and has pledged continued support to the program he is administering. COLLEGE OF PHARMACY ACCREDITED Regent Latter excused. . The President called attention to the September 20 issue of the Saturday Evening Post in which there appeared a feature story on muscular distrophy, which discusses the University of Utahh leadership in research aimed at understanding and controll- ing the disease. The President is in receipt of a copy of a report issued by Dr. Paul D. White, eminent cardiologist of Boston and Chairman of theVNational Advisory Heart Council. The report gives the impressions of Dr. White during a recent visit to the University‘s heart station at the Salt Lake General Hospital. The outstanding achievements of the staff are lauded and tribute is paid to the University of Utah and-.its College of Medicine. ' Col. Donald E. Yanka, Commandant at Dugway Prov- ing Grounds, Tooele, Utah, has written President Olpin a letter of appreciation for the services of forty-one students from the University who were employed there during the past summer in technical and scientific positions. Col. Yanka acknowledged the cooperative assistance of these students in this important defense effort, and hoped to be able to offer permanent employment to some of them upon completion of MUSCULAR DISTROPHY RESEARCH AT UNIVERSITY FEATURED IN SATURDAY EVENING POST COM ME NDAT ION FOR WORK GOING ON AT HEART STATION GENERAL HOSPITAL COL. YANKA OF DUGWAY WRITES LETTER OF APPRECIATION FOR SERVICES OF STUDENTS their college training. The President reported the Visit of Lord and Lady Halifax to the campus on October 4. To honor the Visitors President and Mrs. Olpin were hosts at a luncheon to which a few Regents, and state and city officials were invited. The visitors were here in the interest of the Commonwealth Fund, which was established in New York in 1918. The purpose of the Fund is to apply the income or principal for the welfare of mankind. Activities of the Fund have been largely concentrated in the fields of education, medical education, research, health.
