Bennion moved that the Board approve the following leaves of absence: A. Request from Associate Professor Ray E, Marsell for sabbatical quarter of leave, with pay, spring quarter, 1952. LEAVES OF ABSENCE APPROVED Request from Assistance Professor Louise Hill Howe for leave of absence, without pay, for the winter quarter, 1952., The motion was seconded by Regent McSane and carried. The following request for extended sick leave was granted by motion of Regent Gibson, seconded by Regent Adam S. Bennion and carried: A. Miss Marian Sheets, Cataloger in the Library with rank of Instructor, for the balance of fall quarter - December 15, 1951. (Miss Sheets has been absent since October 22; her date of employment is August 6, 1948,) The recommendation from the Athletic Board that Jack Curtice be given a contract for the next three years at his present salary of $11, 000. per year, was approved on motion of regent Adam S., Bennion, seconded by Regent Cosgriff. Exception was taken by Regent Latter to the procedure which was followed in making this recommendation. He felt that the premature publicity given to the matter COACH CURTICE AWARDED THREE YEAR CONTRACT Placed the Board in a V9 ry awkward position. President Olpin was excused to make plane connec- tions for Washington, D, C. to attend meetings of the Special Committee of the American Council on Education to investi- gate Inter-Collegiate Athletics.
