Geological Survey - for use of University space for conducting water resources research. The Committee recommended authority be given to the President to negotiate ar- ED BY U. S. rangements. Regent Culp moved approval seconded by Regent McShane and carried. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY: SPACE Regent Culpls proposal to establish First South Street as TO BE FUR- the main entrance to the north side of the University campus, NISHED necessitating the widening of the street above University Street was presented and discussed. No formal action was taken. NO ACTION TAKEN ON WIDENING Committee report filed. FIRST SOUTH ROAD Pursuant to the discussion at its last meeting concerning the job survey requested by Governor Lee, Chairman OvE'Connor read a letter from Booz, Allen and Hamilton setting forth the details of the study and estimating the cost at approximately $30, 000. Inasmuch as the cost mentioned heretofore has been $10, 000 the consensus was that the amount bid by the aforementioned firm would require further consideration be- fore a commitment is made by the Board. The object of the survey would be to appraise the effectiveness with which funds are being used. A curriculum study also sought by the Gover- nor would not be included. No objections to the study were expressed but some felt that other bids might be considered. President Olpin stated he welcomed an investigation of the institution's management, but inasmuch as we have already been told that our costs per student are among the lowest in the country, that $30, 000 is a lot of money to spend just to have someone tell us the same thing. JOB SURVEY Regent Holbrook moved that the Chairman, the Chairman TO BE S-TUD- of the Finance Committee and the President examine some of IED AND RE- the work done by this firm and discuss the matter with the PORTED AT Governor and bring back a report to the Board. NEXT MEETING Regent McShane proposed a substitute motion that the Executive Committee study this matter and have a recom-s mendation to make to the Board at its next meeting.
