Show 32 BUILDING COMMITTEE REPORTS LOCATION OF TENNIS COURTS APPROVED INSPECTION CHARGE BY STATE BUILDING BOARD REPORTED The following Building Committee report was submitted by President Olpin: The Building Committee has approved the location of twelve tennis courts east of the ROTC stables, three of which are to be financed by the 1950 graduating class gift, at a cost of approximately $ 9, 000. 00. Mr" James A. Wade, the Superintendent of State Building Board, has reported a charge of $368., with approximately $200 to follow, for inspection services in connection With the Art Center project. It was felt that as this is an innovation in the policy of the building commission, that a protest should be made. The matter was discussed at the Executive Committee meeting preceding the Board meeting and it was recommended that the matter be referred to the Chairman of the Building Com- mittee for a conference with the State Building Commission. SLACK W. WINBURN CHOSEN ARCHITECT It was next reported that Slack W. Winburn has been FOR NEW MEN‘S chosen architect for the new men's dormitory at a fee of 4% DORMITORY of total cost of the building. $30, 000 LOAN Arrangements have been completed with the Federal FOR FEDERAL Homes Finance Agency for a loan of approximately $30, 000 to HOMES cover the architect's contract. AGENCY This request was discussed by the Board, and upon motion made by Regent Bamberger, seconded by Regent Evans, it was referred REQUESTING PLEDGE OF to the Executive Committee for study, together with any other matters pertaining to the project. LAND GRANT FUNDS TO SECURE LOAN FOR It was reported by the President that the stadium was be- ing repaired at an estimated cost of $20, 000. Approximately DORMITORY three-fifths of the amount will be paid by the Athletic Board and two-fifths will come from University funds. The University has REPAIRS AND purchased the paint and will purchase about $3, 000., 00 worth of REPLACE MEN TS TO UNIVERSITY lumber for the project. The Athletic Board will pay for the cement and the labor costs. It is estimated that no additional ma- STADIUM jor repairs will be needed for another five to ten years.
