Show Chairman O'Connor then read the following excerpt from the Governor's letter enumerating the requests: 1. An analysis of each department showing the functions of the department, the number of professors, assistants and other employees; the nature of their duties, the hours worked, their salaries, 2. etc. An analysis of the curriculum of the institution to in- clude the courses taught, the average number of students in each course, any special costs involved, etc. The President again stated that this information can be made available without spending much money. Regent Holbrook suggested that the administration prepare the information requested by the Governor as best it can from the available records. ‘ Regent Gibson arrived. Regent Culp talked to the desirability of complying with the Governor's request as outlined under item one (1) in his letter of June 19, 1951. Incident to the preparation of this report, it was explained by the President that some faculty members receive additional compensation from research grants and special contracts. It was suggested that salaries earned from all sources and paid by the University be detailed in the report. Regent Culp moved that the President be authorized and instructed to make a report on salaries paid by the University from all sources, and submit the report to the Board for its information. The Board would then decide its course of further action. ' Again Regent Holbrook expressed the opinion that the ' request of the Governor should be recognized, and further that the administration should prepare the information and then submit it to this group for screening before sending it to the Governor. INFORMATION ON GOVERNOR'S REQUEST TO BE At the request of the Chairman, Regent Culp restated his SUBMITTED motion adding that information on salaries, when furnished, be TO BOARD NEXT MONTH considered as confidential and for the Board's information only until further action is taken. Motion was put and carried. |
