Show 228 A discussion on the motion followed, the Finance Committee contending that approval of the Faculty Committee's recommendations might tie the hands of the Finance Com- mittee which had not yet investigated the availability of funds. Regent Latter proposed a substitute motion that it be the sense of the Board to favor the Faculty Committee's recommendations and further that the report be referred to the Finance Committee of the Board with instructions to determine the feasibility of the recommendations and to make a report to the Board. Motion was seconded by Regent Eccles FACULTY COMMITTEE REPORT REFERRED TO FINANCE COMMITTEE and carried. Regent Heber Bennion excused. The President reported receipt of a letter from President Robert L. Stearns of the University of Colorado in which he requests a contirbution from the University of Utah in the amount of $100. 00 to assist in defraying the expenses of Erofesstr Toepelman who is being sent to Washing- ton as a repr‘esentauve of the separated state universities in the interests of obtaining legislation on social security benefits UNIVERSITY TO CONTRIBUTE TO EXPENSES OF DELEGATES TO WASHINGTON IN INTERESTS OF SOCIAL SECURITY LEGISLATION for employees of publicly-supported colleges and universities. Regent Eccles moved approval. Motion carried.
