REPORTED It was reported that a statement consisting of four schedules and showing the number of University regular employees, paid with funds appropriated by the state, and taken from the payroll for the 17th to the Blst of each month from January 1, 1945 to June 30, 1951, had been prepared at the request of the State Finance Commission and was ready to be submitted. The President briefly explained the subject matter of the letter which had been prepared to accompany the report to the Commission. ‘ The President informed the Board that a change has been made, at the request of the student body officers, in the duties and responsibilities pre viously assigned to the graduate manager, The request cited a section of the student constitution which provides for a full-time graduate Manager of Student Affairs excluding athletes. Mr, Theron S. Parmelee, who for- merly had the responsibilities of Manager of Athletics as well as Manager of Student Affairs, has now been appointed to the position of Manager of Student Affairs and the responsibilities of Manager of Athletics has been assigned to the Director of SCHEDULE OF EMPLOYEES TO BE SUB~ MITTED TO FINANCE COMMISSION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- OF GRADUATE MANAGER CHANGED Athletics (Coach Curtice) with the assistance of Mr. James Jack, A communication has been received from the Depart- ment of the Army, Office of Chief ongngineers, Washington, D. Cu in which is requested the use of Fort Douglas Chapel, conveyed to the University of Utah under the quitclaim deed dated November 1, 1948, In View of the national emergency which now exists and declared by the President of the United States under date of December 16, 1950, the Department of the Army has been directed by the Secretary of the Army to exer~ cise its rights to repossess this chapel and approximately onethird acre of land described in a letter dated September 27, 1951, to President Olpin, (filed President's Office) Due to its condition the chapel has not been used by the University, The President stated that it will be necessary for the Army to recondition it and when the University repossesses the chapel it should be in much better condition. |
