Show 3025 Galloway- D 1054 have this same trouble? A We had trouble, yes; we couldn't make it up; we had floating ice, for one thing, and it seems as though we had no permanent channel to row in; the water was so cool -- we had along boots -- a man wouldn't like to wade any more than he could help. Q I wouldn't think so. A No. So we didn't go any further that trip up than Camp Lockhart; then we walked across on the trail to Camp 1, and took the boat, the Moab boat, and went to Moab. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q The Moab boat as running then? A The Moab boat went up that morning, yes. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Did the boat have any difficulty in operating that morning? A I don't believe I recollect of any bad trouble. Seems as though we got, two or three different times, kind of stuck on bars; didn't detain us any time at all. They did hit bars along, I know that. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q That big boat, did it have any trouble with the ice? A Seemed as though the ice didn't bother it; it was only floating ice. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Then you went on to Thompson? A And then Salt Lake. 3026 |
