Show 7460 Tasker- D 5439 A The boat belonged to a man named Wheeler. Q Where was his boat when you got it? A I got it about four miles or five miles below Greenriver; he had a little cabin there; that is called Little valley. Q Did you take any supplies down in that boat? A Yes. Q How did you get back up the river that time? A I brought the boat up and sent my man around with the horses. Q How did you propell that boat up the river? A As I remember it, I rowed it and poled it. Q Do any towing, that you recall? A Not as I remember, no. Q And what was the purpose of taking that boat back up the river? A Well, I tried to buy the boat from Mr. Wheeler, but he didn't want to sell it; he loaned me the boat, with the understanding I would bring it back. Q That is the reason you took it back? A Yes; I would rather have paid him for it than brought it back, but he wanted it. Q You had horses down there, you could have ridden back, I presume? A Yes, my saddle horses were down there. |
