A The soil is mostly a wind driven soil; the top soil is a wind driven soil coming from the surrounding cliffs; it is very find texture; it is what is sometimes known as loose; you find it in many places in the world; it is very fertile when watered; it is low, of course, in carbonaceous matter, as the desert soils are, but it is very fertile when water is put upon it. As for the climate, the growing season is very long in that valley; the fruits and vegetables mature much more quickly than almost anywhere else within hundreds of miles, and all in all many things can be grown in that valley that can not be grown within a very considerable distance from it; have to go far away to find it.
