Show 7430 Wolverton- C 5409 a cause for it; sometimes it is a rock that has fallen off a cliff. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Then, in your opinion, it is a rock falling off a cliff that causes it to pass over? A Yes, or in case heavy rocks are thrown in by a wash, that will deflect the channel. Q But you didn't find any deflection of the channel. On account of curve in the river? A No, I wouldn't say so. Q When you get these crossings of the current from one side of the river to the other, do you get a deposit of sand which forms a bar? A On the short side of the crossing we invariably have sand, yes. Q Sometimes do these bars form practically clear across the river? A No. Q That has not been your experience? A Not my experience, no. Q Are the rocks which change the current to which you have just referred, are they always rocks which are visible, or might they be submerged rocks? A Usually they are visible, but at times they are not apparent. |
