Show I- 7 7414 5393 Wolverton- D BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q That is the only time you have known the river to back up A I knew the Grand to be backed up once, or, as you call it now, the Colorado. Q Tell us about that. A It was a flood came down Indian creek, and I got there a few hours after the flood had come down. Q To what extent was the Colorado dammed up or backed up on that occasion? A The water was backed up several miles, five or six miles; however, there was a good channel on the west side, across from the mouth of Indian creek, and we went through it, no trouble. Q Aside from those two occasions, do you recall any other occasions when anything of that kind happened? A I do not. Q On the occasion you last mentioned, did that inter-fere with your progress on the river at all? A Not at all; it locked bad. Q What about falling rocks,-- have you seen rocks fall-ing, at times? A Yes, rocks fell in the spring of the year and during the heavy rains in the summer. Q If the river were used in constant use, say as an |
