BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q You are referring now to the south bank of the river or the north? A The south bank of the river; some to the north. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Have you been over on the north bank of the river? A I never traveled over there; just been over there several times. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Is there any road or trail leading up opposite Nokai canyon? A No; there is a trail on the other side; it goes over towards the Colorado river, up Clay Rill divide. Q That trail goes to a point on the San Juan river, opposite your camp, or opposite Nokai canyon? A Nokai canyon, Copper canyon, just on the other side, a trail, that is all, no road. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q During the years 1904 and 1905, while you were there, were there other people operating in the San Juan canyon, placer mines, or other kind of mines? |
