Show 4084 Sawyer- D 2105 I made arrangements for Mr. Miser, the crill foreman, to line the outfit back up over the hole; we had lost about ninety feet of drill rode and casings that we wanted to recover if possible in order to resume operations, and I went up to Moab on the Grand river and wired the conditions to Mr. Richardson. I got a wire back calling the outfit out; I think his wire said, " Take no more chances with life or limb", or something of that kind; so I brought the outfit out. MR. FARNSWORTH: We move to strike out that wire -- that part of his answer speaking about that telegram from somebody off somewhere. THE SPECIAL MASTER: He received it. MR. FARNSWORTH: I know, but it is hearsay; it is incompetent for any purpose; it is irrelevant and immaterial what the opinion of that person might be. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Do you know there that telegram is now that you received? A Why, my files were all lost in a flood at Yuma in 1916; I imagine Mr. Richardson would have it in his. Q You mean have a copy of it. A Yes. It was a reclamation service wire, and they are made out in triplicate and one is supposed to be kept by the sender. MR. FARNSWORTH: I would like a ruling on that. |
