BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q What year and month was that? A That was -- I think we started in the middle of July, 1914. Q It was just prior to this drilling operation? A Immediately prior to it. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Mr. Sawyer, sheets 31 to 36 of Exhibit 10, are those the survey maps which were made at that time? A Yes sir. Q What motive power did you use above Greenriver? A We used cars. Q Didn't go on the river at all? A Cars and on foot; no, we didn't use the river, at all, and we didn't use the river for any of the surveys above Wimmer's ranch. Q Above Wimmer's ranch? A Yes, or just immediately above there, I think, is where we loaded the outfit on the Betsy Ann and started using the river. Q After you started using the river was it necessary for the persons in the party from time to time to get out of the boats? |
