Show 3996 Kane- D 2016 A Enough for that always, yes. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q How did the sandbars in Glen canyon compare with the condition you found there in the previous December? A They weren't so bad, because of a little more water; but at that, we did lots of work in Glen canyon below Tickaboo bar. Q What do you mean by lots of work? A Showing and hauling of these boats; it is hard work; and takes time We made one portage there more than half a mile long at one place, sooner than pull and haul and lift the boats; just took the stuff out and carried it; then shoved the boats through. I walked across the river at that point. That was these reefs you talked about. Q Could you give me the approximate location? A No, I can't; to anybody that had been down through that country I could, because there are points there are black volcanic rock on both sides of the river that run from the northeast to the southwest along a big fault, evidently it is lava rock, black rocks; you can see them across the country to the southeast from the Henry mountains; they are on the same fault the Henry mountains are on; they were volcanoes once. |
