Show 3956 Edwards- RC 1976 Q Without counting up, I didn't notice more than two or three pictures showing water through that stretch. Most of those pictures through that stretch were spoiled? A A great many of them were, yes. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q You spoke of the men who were in the wreck, the boat which was wrecked at rapid No. 13, walking from there. Did I understand you to say they walked along the banks of the rivers? A Yes sir. Q From there down to Hite? A Part of the way, wherever they could walk. Q How much of the way could they walk. A They probably walked a large per cent of that stretch. They had to walk, because we couldn't carry them. Q When you say where they could walk, what prevented their walking at other places? A The canyon walls come right in close to the river; no chance to get by; box canyon. Q No chance to get along shore? A No. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q There is only one box canyon, isn't there, that is at Narrow canyon? A Yes, the lower canyon. |
