NTTBECULAEIA, Defrance. 1. NUBECULAEIA LUCiFUGA, Defrance. Nubecularia lucifuga, Brady, 1884, Chall. Rep. vol. ix. p. 134, pi. i. figs. 9-16. A single specimen of this species occurred in Sample No. 1. BILOCTTLINA, d'Orbigny. 2. B I L O C U L I N A DEPEESSA, d'Orbigny. Biloculina depressa, Brady, 1884, Chall. Rep. vol. ix. p. 145, pi. ii. figs. 12, 15-17, pi. hi. figs. 1, 2. This species attains a great size in these deposits, many of the specimens being as large as -^ inch in diameter, measured across the face. Common in Sample No. 1; frequent, N o. 3; common, No. 4 ; rare, N o. 5 ; frequent, No. 6. 3. BILOCULINA DEPEESSA, d'Orb., var. MTTEBHYNA, Schwager. Biloculina murrhgna, Schwager, 1866, Novara-Exped., geol. Tlieil, vol. ii. p. 203, pi. iv. fig. 15 a-c. B. depressa, var. murrhyna, Brady, 1884, Chall. France, vol. iv. p. 552, pi. ix. figs. 52-54. This deep-water form has been recorded from the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans from depths between 1180 and 1900 fathoms (Brady). It was also found fossil in the Island of Kar Nicobar (Schwager). Frequent in Sample No. 1; frequent, N o. 4; rare, No. 6. 4. BILOCULINA DEPEESSA, d'Orb., var. SEEEATA, Brady. Biloculina depressa, var. serrata, Brady, 1884, Chall. Rep. vol. ix. p. 146, pi. iii. fig. 3 a-c. This, another deep-water form, is rare in these deposits in Sample No. 1 ; very rare, No. 3 ; rare, No. 6. 5. BILOCULINA TUBULOSA, Costa. (Plate I. figs. 1, 7.) Biloculina tubulosa, Brady, 1884, Chall. Rep. vol. ix. p. 147, pi. iii. fig. 6 a-c. This species has before been found off Kandavu, Fiji Islands, at 210 fathoms (Brady). |
