Show 1895.] MR. p. L. SCLATER O N THOMAS'S ANTELOPE. 869 African Antelopes in the first volume of * Big Game Shooting,' in the Badminton Library (p. 296), this Antelope bad been named " Kobus kob," probably from a mounted specimen of it in the British Museum having been so labelled. In Herr Matschie's Head of Cobus thomasi, $. (From Mr. Gedge's specimen.) recently published volume on German-East-African Mammals (p. 126) it had been also referred to the West-African Kob. But Mr. Thomas and Mr. Sclater had quite agreed that this determination was wrong, the West-African Kob being a much smaller animal. |
