Show UNITED STATES FOREST SERVICE Several different men have served as forest rangers at the Stockmore Ranger Station over the years. Thomas E. Woolstenhulme was ranger from 1907 un til 1913. He was a very athletic person and played first base on the Hanna baseball team. He was known throughout the valley for his honesty and integrity. John A. Pack served from 1914 to 1915. Mr. Pack moved to Kamas when he left Stockmore. Edson J. Adair served as ranger from 1916 until 1922. He later moved to Heber. James R. Ostler was forest ranger from 1922-1923. He was in a bad car accident while living here, and left the valley soon after. Ostler Peak was named after him. R. Allen Ba uchamp was forest ranger from 1n4 until 1928. Mr. Beauchamp was an airplane pilot during the first world war. After the war he moved from our valley. T. Dean Phinney assumed forest ranger duties from 1929 until 1933. From here he moved to Ogden, Utah. Phinney Lake was named after him. William Smith was ranger at Stock more from 1934 until 1936. Floyd J. Allen served as ranger from 1937-until 1938. He was here only a short time and was struck and killed by lightning a few miles northeast of the Stockmore Station. Allen Lake was named after Mr. Allen. C. Douglas Wadsworth assumed duties of forest ranger from 1939 until 1943. He was serving in this position when the area was transferred from Uintah National Forest to Ashley National Forest. Mr. Wad· sworth was transferred to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. At this time, James W. Lambert served as ranger for a month or two. C. Douglas Wadsworth then served as ranger again from 1945·1946. Lawrence J. Colton was forest ranger from 1946 until 1950. They moved from here to the Kamas Valley. John P. Tucker was appointed ranger in 1951. Robert L. Safran served as forest ranger from 1952 until 1953. At this time the Ranger's office was discontinued at Stockmore. From 1954 until the present time (1980) the ranger office has been located at Duchesne, Utah.
