Ut.ah 84018 , .~ INFORMATION FOR USE OF FOREST SERVICE GUARD STATIONS OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE PLAN We ar~ offeri,ng the us-e of three, Forest Service Gua.rd Station.s to the public for personal recreation use. Administrative use by the For~atservice, or other Government agencies, will be. scheduled and accommodated first. Permits for public use of the Guard. Stations are issued on a "first come-first .~rved" 'basis to anyone 18 years or older. Th~ permit is good until 2:00 PM the. following day. Reservations can be made by coming into the Vernal Ranger District office located at 353 North Vernal Avenue in Vernal, Utah. Information can be obtained by telephoning the office at (801) 789-1181.. Office hours are {tom 8:0Q AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Th.ere is no guarantee concerning access to the Guard St.ations as th~ weather is unpredictable. Generally during the winter mont'ls acce.ss must, be by snow machine. or skis. We. will give you ·the key for the Guard Stations when you pick up the 'permit and ask that you return the .key and a Condition Rep.ort of the cabin after your use. Be sure. that the Guard Station is locked when you leave. User fees are as follows: Trout Creek: and Colton Guard Stations S25.00/night/party. Paradise GuaTd Station $15.00/night/party. User .fees will be deposited in a cOoperative account 'and used to maintain the' Guard Stations. The Guard Stations are. equipped with Propane lights or .gas lanterns, propane stove or wood. stove; andrefiigerator, mattresses, axe, shovel, two double bunks, bucket, cieaninggear., ,and cooking utensils. Because of vand~ism problems, however, the presence of thes.e items is not guaranteed. The. Guard Stat.ions a.re not wired for ,electricity 'a.nd they ha.ve an outdoor-toiler. Water fs available· at all 3 guard stations only' during July 1 to September 30. All water must he boiled before consumption. UNAUTHORIZED USE OF THESE GUARD STATIONS IS A VIOLATION OF BOTH STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS. VIOLATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO A FINE OF $500 AND/OR UP TO 6 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT. VIOLATIONS SHOULD BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY TO A FOREST OF.FICER. The weathet is va.riable,so bring a warm coat and a. $pare set of dry- clothing. During the, winter months appropriate winter clothing should be worn or carried. Attached is a checklis.t of things you may want to take with you. |
