Show 3 west of Hanna, Utah, near the Junction of State Route 35 and the North Fork Duchesne Road. Dust is generated by reasonably heavy use of State Route 35 through the administrative site on the unpaved road. During the construction phase of the Central Utah Project, there will be an increase in traffic in this area with resultant dusty conditions. The proposed new administrative building locations will be at least 300 feet from existing roads and will be more desirable as an administrative site after the Bureau of Reclamation buildings are available for Forest use. Noise Noise pollution is also associated with the traffic use on the road adjacent to existing facilities and will increase during the construction phase of the Central Utah Project. The new site is more removed from the road and will be less affected by road noise. Soil The soil on the benchland is cobbly, silty loam and is well drained. The land is of low gradient and is a terraced bench approximately 25 feet above the riverbottom. Present vegetative condition on the site indicates that production would be rated fair to good. The benchland is well suited for structural development and the soils will be capable of revegetation, landscape improvement, and drainfield operation. Because of the loy gradient, minimum soil impacts or erosion losses would be expected from development and use of this site. Water The present water system at Stockmore is a well operation located near the old Ranger station in the creekbottom. It has been satisfactory for existing developments, but does not provide needed flows for fire protection as fire storage is nonexistent. The proposed new development will include a storage tank that will improve the water system and duration of flow needed for fire protection purposes. The Bureau of Reclamation will develop a new well above the proposed lab building if the existing well is questionable or does not meet their needs. If State Highway 35 is ever relocated, the present well would probably be lost to road construction. The proposed development would be an improvement over the existing water source available at the present Stockmore site. Precipitation averages about 20 inches annually with most falling as snow.
