Show 3. For purposes of implementing the Clean Water Act, each State is required to Identify Outstanding National Resource Waters. Why has"this not been done in Utah? Can the State continue to avoid doing this? The U.S.Fish & Wildlife Service plans to Identify these Resource Waters nationally, on the basis of criteria they develop. But - what can we do and do now? Rather than waiting for EPA and F & W S to be able to bring this about, let's jump the gun! Let's identify streams and portions of streams, on criteria we develop ourselves, in northeast Utah.which we consider to be Outstanding National Resource Waters. - Develop the criteria which fulfill our varied needs from these streams; fly fishing, wildlife habitat, natural biological productivity, kayaking, esthetics., economic benefits from all these individual uses. Map out the streams and portions of streams. Remember we are advocates - not apologists I And restoration is required under the Clean V/ater Act. I_n_y_our mapping, forget CUP. Take streams as they were and what they can be restored to.. This includes the JPrpvo, the Strawberry, and Diamond Fork, the Ashley Creeks, Big and Little Brush Creeks, parts of the Duchesne which once were fine fisheries, and all streams on the North Slo peof the Uinta Range. Document fish species present or once present and size and quantity. Identify natural spawning tributaries. Heidenreich gave me slides of fish species. Spell out why they are unique in Utah and in the nation.
