Show to my kids or to our Parish- how deeply depressed I am. I'm supposed to "keep up a brave front". And do! You probably knew that Mark's boss at Jenny Lake boat concession, had a massive heart attack and stroke the week before Christmas. He was in the hospital in Salt Lake City for three weeks and is back in the Jackson hospital now. There was complete arrest and appears to be some residue handicap from this in his swallowing, I hear. Mark was really devastated - here were the two men closest to him - laid low in hospitals 1500 miles apart. The week I drove Mark back to Iowa for his return ride to Jackson was the week of Wisconsin's worst blizzard. I drove back to Madison from Iowa - got wholly bogged down in the Mississippi River Basin and, against all advice from county traffic police and gas station people - I drove up out of that mess back to Madison. Don't know how I did it. Madison was a disaster area and I had to sleep at the hosptial since my car was snowed in in the parking lot. Even hospital staff were grounded. En route home to Manitowoc, later In that week, the Interstate between Madison and Milwaukee was a sheet of slick ice. A car ahead of me some 100 yards spun clear around on the road several times. Had I been going faster ??? Early _.last week I was snowed in the house - all exits • totally blocked. Kids here are making a fortune in snowblowing people out. $17 for that one job! So, I have stayed put in Manitowoc. Hoping to return to Madison, this week, however, if the clear weather holds. I would appreciate sometime your telling me what went on at the Utah Wildlife Society meeting. Sure would like to have been there. And, what you are doing. This is my sanity, Jim. Mark is going to try writing for the Jackson Hole News and I gave him some leads on possible articles on wildlife management in Jackson Hole. You might think ahead how useful or helpful such an article might be. I'll be sending a packet of material I've worked on - when I assemble it for my CRCUP in SLC. Had a brief note from Don Proctor in response to my Christmas card. Dorothy P.S. Did you ever receive the book I sent at Christmas. It was insured, if it never arrived. You don't have to tell me if you read it - just that it arrived. PPS... Jim, I've come to a State where I'm going to have to ask people I send CUP material to now to repay me .05 per page costs of xeroxing. I've spent over $100 in two months of my own money(which I don't have) for this purpose alone, &c*^L wu / / hoping my CRCUP group will refund part of it. I've spent Vv<4. // h £~2 on long distance calls to Washington and to Utah, etc. ^•^-vvv^o - n U/3u/ o n c?lCUP issues. And, our Group still has not had a fund . * raising letter form developed. So we are low on funds. I'll k*ZU Ju^vv only send you what is significant. O.K.? This isn't personal facial W^letters- |
