Show TjKA^rtAA '¥ Objectives Since there is no public advocate for wildlife resources in Utah at present, I would like to raise funds to enable me to live and work on issues related to wildlife habitat protection in the State. My husband and I had talked about my making a commuting arrangement - until he retired.,. However, this present disability and its unknowns may change these plans - one way or the other. If he is unable to carry on here, and would retire, we would move west.* Unless it appears I can work effectively on and for the CRCUP in Wisconsin, at least for the near future, I would like to be an activist organizer: - for CRCUP in Utah - for wildlife habitat protection in Utah These might be combined. While the major wildlife organizations such as the Wildlife Management Institute and the National Wildlife Federation and the Audubon Society and Defenders of Wildlife - all have regional representatives, I have found they have not responded to my requests for involvement in Utah. Material I have sent, goes unanswered. The NWFederation Director is a Mormon^and Mormons staff his Organization to some extent. Whether situations such as this deter interest and action or whether there has been a paucity of information sent out from the State - I don't know. I do work with one staff person and a Counsel for the Federation, in a helpful way, so I may be off base. If and when I get time, I would like to write articles related to habitat impacts and failures to address these as well as to try to develop a Christian awareness of the responsibility of the Episcopal Church to advocate Christian stewardship to the land. This is my underlying motivation. Education Formal Education: Two and one half years through University of Michigan toward a degree in American Culture.(1936-1939) Acquired Education: Enormous amounts of information on wildlife resources and management from consultations with: Forest Service, BLM, State Fish & Game, U.S.Fish & Wildlife Service staffs - in Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming and Utah. Also, contacts with University experts in Montana, Idaho and in Utah. Much of this information is in Agency publications and/or not yet printed. I worked with Jack Ward Thomas, La Grande -=*? oKw *We could not live on his retirement of his age now - 6l. If he retires on disability as of age 65, which he could do now, our income would be between $5 - $6,000. And, we own no house. Additional funds would be required for us to live. * lh 0/*, rw, ^ -r^ M^fc f l ^ fttf j ^ ^ , ^ ,. ^ |
