Show INTERVIEW: Francisco Solario Page 19-b FS: know, and main thing is have a sack of beans, a hundred pounds or a little better, and by the time that March, the sack of beans and the flour was getting low and lower, and so ----in those days two of this here sugar company, they had ways to, to be sure they have their men to do their thinning they'd come up here and take you to the farms. They would give you an order to go to the stores, you know, to order stuff while you're waiting to eat. Then while you thin, you have to pay it back to the company. VM: Oh, yeah. FS: That's the way---they used to work it. FO: Did you say your father worked for the railroad? FS: Oh, about two months" FO: Oh, is that all? FS: And then, up there in Delta, about a year, I think. FO: Mmm-hmm. When did your father, is your father dead now? FS: Yeah, he's dead. He died in 1948. FO: I see. What did he do ah----between the 1920's and 1948? Did he continue to work for the farms? FS: Yeah, we've went to Preston, Idaho in 1927 from, 1928, from here. FO: Mmm-hmm. FS: 1928, and then we stayed in Preston farming until 1941. |
