INTERVIEW: Francis Yanez Page 40 FY: I really can't remember whether they just came in. I don't think Kennecott recruited them. I just think they, I think they just came in for better pay, you know. I think they're for better jobs and better chances that Kennecott was giving them. I'm sure that's what was _______ From---I hope I'm not wrong---on that. VM: How about lately, say within the last ten years or so, has there been a steady migration, or just new people moving in from different parts of the country. FY: No, there's another migration period, say, with a groups when it was the last---within the last ah---I'll say between eight and ten years and they're coming in from Texas. VM: Texas? FY: Yeah. There was a whole lot of them. And I can tell you one city that's just swarming with them. They're just loaded with them, like they say, and that's Ogden. And Ogden--- the Davis County area, you know, like in Ogden, Brigham City, Pocatello, Layton, Farmington,---- VM: In what are they working at over there? FY: Most of those fellows work farrnwork, you know that. Uh huh. It's amazing, but that's what they do. They come in and work, and most of them lc vc, you know, during the winter months. But right now's when they're coming in.
