INTERVIEW: Francisco Solaria Page 13 FS: Because there's----- VM: Did you hear that there was work here, or something? FS: Yeah, my father told him there was work, and a lot of people was working up here in the beet field, used to live here in Salt Lake City. You know, and they used to travel back and forth. Used to tell father that during the winter time there was little odd jobs around here. And so we decided to move from up there, looking for a better place, you know, the----to earn money, that's my father. VM: Now, how many other Mexicanos worked around your area, from Burley, around that area? Very many? FS: Well, as I remember right, there was only two families, the Basques, and I can't remember the other family. They lived quite a little ways from---from there. But most of them were single men that used to travel back and forth, you know, for thinning and topping, potatoes, as soon as the topping, and the families that used to go from Salt Lake here---the ones that used to go up there, there was about three or four families that we knew.
