JM: Yeah, he have his office there, and he send you tickets for buses and Greyhound, you wanna go to California you just buy a ticket off of him they give him so much percent, ten percent I think, on the dollar for sending you tickets. V}1: So he was in the dispatching business as well as the recruiting business? JM: Yeah, he do all kinds of business. VM: Were there any other persons, any other Mexicans who did this type of work? Who did the same thing? JM: Manuel P~rez work for him, he's the one looking for the men most the time, and him sitting in the office selling tickets, Zacatecas. VM: This is Manuel Pe" rez? JM: Manuel P~rez. VM: Did he go to Mexico and California and search out these men? JM: Yeah, bring these men to work. And then Pino have a little store and sell groceries and all kinds of stuff, books, postcards and he sends the mens to work too, like Zacatecas. VM: They were both in business at the same time? JM: Yeah, same time. VM: So they were competing with each other to get the men? JM: Yeah, competition. He go to same place Mexicale, Jaurez, Chihauhau, to get the mens, to Los Angeles wherever he find them he go over there |
