Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs McKean argues against the transfer of 25 Navajo boys from the Ute Mountain School to the Ignacio School. Jan. 12, 1926 Hammond, E. H., Supervisor, Indian Schools Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Hammond sends a copy of his letter to commissioner to agent of Cons. Ute Agency. In the letter he makes recommendations for improvements at the Ute Mountain School, Allen Day School, and So. Ute School, which he makes after visiting the schools. He recommends co- ordination of activities in Health Education program. Feb. 9, 1926 McKean, E. E., Supt., Cons. Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Agent forwards a letter from Alice B. Stacher, a Ute Indian, who recommends establishing a school at Allen Canyon. He comments on Mrs. Stacher's character and the character of her husband. Even though she has taught school, he does not recommend the establishment of a school in Allen Canyon. Feb. 23, 1926 Meritt, E. R., Asst. Commissioner Letter to E. E. McKean, Cons. Ute Agency Meritt calls McKean's attention to the recent report done on his schools and he asks that the suggestions be implemented. Authority to spend $ 11,000 for construction of an additional reservoir has already been given. Permission granted for the purchase of sheep and goats for the schools. |
