NA/ RG75/ 11749- 1931- Con Ute 160 Feb. 6, 1932 Nash, Roy, Field Representative Report to William H. Adams, Gov. of Colorado Reports on the actions and accusations of Mrs. C. W. Wiegel, Chairman of the Colorado State Indian Commission. She has accused Supt. Peacore of immoral behavior. Nash finds no basis in fact for the accusations and recommends dismissal of the writer of the letter. Includes the testimony of several agency employees. NA/ RG75/ 55399- 1931- Con Ute 154 July 30, 1932 Peacore, E. J., Supt., Con. Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Answers the report of G. E. E. Lindquist. Writes that the new hospital is about completed and 17 miles of highway were completed last year. Most of the money spent at Towaoc is spent for Utes, not Navajos. The Indians in both areas are progressing in economic and social terms. He agrees that more teachers are needed at Ute Mountain School. Thinks a community house should be sponsored. All trespassers caught are charged a fee. |
