Oct. 1, 1880 (?), Acting Commissioner Letter to Henry Page, Agent, So. Ute Agency The acting commissioner asks that some children be provided for the Carlisle school. Jan. 11, 1881 Marble, E. M., Acting Commissioner Letter to Henry Page, Agent, So. Ute Agency Permission is given for parents to accompany children to the Carlisle school. Children going to school must be certified as being completely healthy and children of chiefs and head- men are to be given preference. July 11, 1881 Nichol, Thomas(?) M., Acting Commissioner Letter to Henry Page, Agent, So. Ute Agency Nichol responds to Page's information that the Ute Indians refuse to send any of their children ' to the Carlisle school because the government has refuse to keep certain promises made under authority of the Ute Commission. Nichol asks to be informed of the specific promises not kept. Jan. 31, 1883 (?), Secretary of the Interior Letter to Warren Patten, Agent, So. Ute Agency Help is requested in securing sixteen- year- old Indian children for the industrial school at Fort Collins or some other industrial and training schools in the east. |
