Ute Agency Upshaw informs the agent that the superintendent of Grand Junction school will be at the agency to pick up children for the school. Oct. 14, 1886 Upshaw, A. B., Acting Commissioner Letter to Stollsteimer, So. Ute Agent Upshaw calls attention to a congressional act requiring that " the nature and effect of alcoholic drinks and narcotics, and their effect upon the human system, be taught in all Indian schools." A copy of act in included in letter. Oct. 28, 1886 Davies, W. S., Supt.. Grand Junction School Letter to Stollsteimer, So. Ute Agency Davies informs the agent that he has been authorized to secure pupils for the school and he asks Stollsteimer how many children will be attending. Nov. 7, 1886 Upshaw, A. B., Acting Commissioner Telegram to Stollsteimer, So. Ute Agency " Can you furnish children for Grand Junction School. If so how many. Answer by telegraph." ( complete) 1887 School Statistics Report Teaching staff and government finances described No farm acreage and thus no crops reported. A one- room school house reported to be only building.
