Southern Ute Indians. Discusses four claims for which Dolph has suggested the Indians employ an attorney. Does not believe employment is warranted. Ute Agency In reply to Stacher's letter of July 19, 1938, Steward provides photostat copy of Report 45 of Court of Claims, pgs. 440- 471, inclusive, entitled " The Ute Indians vs. The Unites States," and decided May 23, 1910. Dec. 24, 1941 MacSpadden, Floyd E., Supt., Con. Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Writes that Raymond T. Bonnin and Oran Curry were in the area to visit and allegedly parlay a message from Ernest L. Wilkinson to the councils. They failed to keep an appointment to meet the Ute Mountain Council. Encloses: Southern Ute Tribal Council minutes. NA/ RG75/ 69385- 1941- Con Ute 174 Sept. 5, 1946 Southern Ute and Ute Mountain Councils Minutes of Meeting with Atty Wilkinson Wilkinson explains what he had done since receiving the contract from the two tribes. The Indian Claims Commission Act has finally been passed. Because the Utah Utes do not have extra money, Wilkinson proposes a loan to them by the other two tribes.
