Lewis School Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Mr. Peterson, with Mr. Shelton of the San Juan School, visited sight of the San Juan School and the trip has resulted in new recruits for the school. S., Commissioner of Indian Affairs Letter to Secretary of the Interior The Commissioner is requesting permission to divide the Southern Ute Agency and appoint the superintendent of the Fort Lewis Indian Training School as the agent for the western portion. This letter to have contained petition by So. Ute Indians against division lines segregating their reservation. Jan. 22, 1904 (?), Acting Commissioner Letter to Joseph O. Smith, Supt., So. Ute School Smith is advised that the Office has decided to divided the responsibilities of the agency between the school at Ignacio and that at Ft. Lewis. Supt. Peterson, of Ft.
