Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Bartholomew defends the character of Mr. Bishop against the accusations of Mr. Chase, supt. of the Ramona School at Santa Fe. Mr. Chase had accused Bishop of fathering an Apache woman's child. The accusations were proven false, but Mr. Chase continued his attacks on Bishop, apparently because Bishop had failed to provide children for his school. Others accused by Chase, including Bartholomew and Stollsteimer, are innocent. Sept. 21, 1891 Bartholomew, Chas. A., Indian Agent, So.
