F., Clerk, Navajo Springs Letter to Wm. Leonard, So. Ute Agency Stacher sends information of individuals for purpose of enrollment and distribution of annuities. Sept. 10, 1906 Leonard, Wm. Agent Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Send list of Indians belonging to the Southern Ute Agency who have land alloted to them, but who are living at Navajo Springs and intend to stay. Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Leonard sends information about certain allotted Utes, as requested by the commissioner. He comments on the difficulty of identifying allottees, as the Indians are reluctant to discuss the matter. He also comments on the need to explain the importance of legal marriages and divorces to the Indians, who still prefer to marry and divorce according to Indian custom. |
