Show Education - 213 adjudication. Jan. 6, 1905 Peterson, W. M., Supt., Ft. Lewis School Letter to Major Thorn. C J. Bailey, Newark, N. J. Peterson questions Bailey re: time of survey of Ft. Lewis ditch and construction and quantity of water carried in 1881. Request for water rights to be based on the appropriation of water by the military and continuous use by the government, either by the military or the Indian School. Continuous use in Colorado allowed the dropping of immediate ditch use for any period less than three years. Jan. 6, 1905 Peterson, W. M., Supt., Ft. Lewis School Letter to T. B. Goo, Major, 19th Infantry, Vancouver Barracks, Wa. Peterson asks Major Goo for an affidavit of approximate time of taking out of Ft. Lewis ditch and quantity for water carried. The Supt. expresses optimism re: successful acquisition of water rights. Jan. 19, 1905 Peterson, W. M, Supt., Ft. Lewis School Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Peterson requests that the Office take action to secure water rights for the school. He explains that the Thompson's Park Ditch plans to divert more water, leaving the school with out a supply Jan. 19, 1905 Peterson, W. M, Supt., Ft. Lewis School Letter to E. M. Cranston, Dist. Atty, Denver Peterson writes of the need to re- adjudicate water rights for the LaPlata River. If the Thompson's Park Ditch diverts its full amount, the river would be completely dry at Ft. Lewis, except during times of high flood. |
