[Received May 9, 1887.] Mr. Sclater's collection, made principally at Maccasseema on Pomeroon River, contains examples of the following species : - 1. Theropsophus complanatus, F. 2. Tetracha violacea, var., Eeiche. 3. Rhynchophorus palmaruni, L. 4. Rhina barbicornis, F. 5. Ocelosis biloba, E. 6. Strategus alceus, L. 7. Phileurus didymus, L. 8. Phileurus depressus, F. 9. Phileurus sclateri, sp. nov. 10. Veturius platyrhinus, Hope. 11. Stenocrates laborator, F. 12. Zophobas morio, F. 13. Nytobaetes variolosa, F. 14. Megaderus stigma. 15. Logocheirus araneiformis. 16. Chlorida festiva, L. 17. Orthomegas cinnamomeus, Oliv. 18. Euniolpus surinamensis. The following description of the new Phileurus has been drawn up by Mr. H. W . Bates, F.R.S. :- PHILEURUS SCLATERI, sp. nov. Oblongus, subdepressus, nigro-nitidus ; elytris minute seriato-nee striatis, interstitiis subtilissime alutaceis et Long. 23 millim. Distinguished from all other described species by the fine sculpture Phileurus sclateri. and subopaque surface of the elytra. It belongs to Burmeister's Section I A. of the genus, the anterior tibiae having three sharp |
